Theatre by the Bay is proud to be one of the anchor tenants in Barrie's newest cultural facilities, the Mady Centre for the Performing Arts.

Construction of the new Mady Centre for the Performing Arts; the existing downtown theatre, located at 1 & 3 Dunlop Street, at the historic Five Points intersection, was demolished in June 2010 to make way for this new, state of the art facility, began last fall.

The new 10,000 square foot theatre proceeded almost immediately. The new theatre facility was completed this summer and will serve as a cultural anchor to the historic Five Points intersection in the City’s downtown core.

The facility will include a versatile and flexible stage area using a system of stage lights and sound reinforcement for professional theatre, music, dance and other presentation formats, a lighting and sound operator’s booth, seating capacity of 120 to 175 patrons, accessible public washrooms, shared administrative office space, kitchenette and catering facilities, artist’s green room/lounge, performers dressing/locker rooms with showers, costume room, equipment room, utility infrastructure, box office, reception area and coat check.
