After the highly successful tours of Shakespeare on Love and Shakespeare’s Comedies, this year Theatre by the Bay brings you a brand new show called Shakespeare’s Youth . Follow the toils and tribulations of the teens and children in Shakespeare’s plays as he shows, once again, his incredible insight into our common times. School-age audiences will immediately relate to the situations that Shakespeare’s youth find themselves in: schoolyard bullying, absentee parents and first love are just a few of themes that will be discussed by using scenes from some of his most popular plays (including Romeo & Juliet, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet and many more).

Join us for a highly entertaining and educational performance that will be sure to re-introduce young audiences to a Shakespeare they thought they knew. Each performance is 45 minutes in length and is appropriate for grades 3-12. (Adaptations to the script are made according to age appropriateness).

Shakespeare’s Youth intermingles contemporary language and Shakespeare’s poetry, finding a way to make Shakespeare’s plays accessible and engaging for the TV generation. The show is available for booking from April 28th – June 6th, 2008.

New workshops this year

New this year to Theatre by the Bay’s Shakespeare to the Classroom Program is the addition of theatre workshops where students can learn about Acting, Auditioning, Shakespearean Language and Stage Performance. Professional actors who are currently working in the theatre, film and television industry teach each workshop. Ask us how your school can receive these workshops for a small additional fee. Contact Erica Angus for further details and make the most of this learning opportunity working in-depth with the actors after the performance.
